Couple of points: 1) Don't trust anything you read on HT and if you need to verify something you read on HT with another site......don't post that you read it on HT. 2) At some point in the life of your engine the bearings will seize, the rings will go out, your transmission gears will be thrashed and every plastic part in the car 'will' crack. The difference between the longevity of the same motor for different 'normal' operating conditions (idle, moderate acceleration, and cruise) falls within the error bars of measurement. So it really doesn't matter. Yes, if the first thing you do when you get in the car is to see if the rev-limiter works.....then maybe the engine won't last as long. My suggestion: Let the car warm up for a minute or two if the car hasn't been driven that day or the engine is 'cold.' Baby the car while driving till you get to operating temperature. How hard is that?
